Welcome Summer 2017

Carousel Connections Summer 2017 is in full swing! Each participant is learning new routines and getting to know friends. Participants returned to their summer home eager to show new pals the ropes. We continue to teach figurative language and idioms!

Routines are embedded within our program to provide a daily living structure in a comfortable, authentic setting.

Morning — Waking up with an alarm clock, preparing for the day with appropriate attire, joining for breakfast with friends, preparing a bag lunch, checking our “to do” and chore list, double-checking that we have everything that we need for the day

Work in the community — Greeting your supervisor and other staff in the department, reviewing the task list, initiating tasks, finding effective times to take a break, exploring tools and strategies to show efficient work habits, working through the soft skills of employment as job seekers in the community

Afternoon Cycles program — Exercise, leisure, chores and errands, learning in class using the Full Life Process™, Group Planning Meetings

Dinner – Preparing and hosting the meal, sharing food family style, engaging in conversation about the day, waiting for other friends to finish eating before leaving the table, helping with cleaning

Social Fun – Planning evening activities, checking in with friends about their preferences and negotiating choices, regulating energy and expected behavior during activities

Evening — Taking care of personal care, preparing for the next day, tidying bedrooms

Our Carousel routines provide engaging, meaningful experiences, ready to be transferred to other living settings. Have fun browsing our new website to see what we are up to!
