Chicken Parmesan

This easy Chicken Parmesan recipe features lightly breaded chicken breasts topped with warm marinara sauce and melted mozzarella cheese. Pair with pasta, rice, or veggies.

Ingredients

  • 2 large boneless chicken breasts (cut in half lengthwise to make 4 thin pieces)

  • 1 cup breadcrumbs (plain or Italian style)

  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese

  • 1 egg (beaten)

  • 1 cup marinara sauce (store-bought or homemade)

  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

  • Salt & pepper (optional)

Optional: Use gluten-free breadcrumbs or low-sodium sauce 

Directions:

1. Set up 

  • Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).

  • Line a baking tray with foil or parchment paper.

2. Prepare the chicken

  • Put breadcrumbs and Parmesan in a shallow bowl.

  • Beat the egg in another bowl.

  • Dip each piece of chicken in the egg, then press into the breadcrumb mix.

  • Place the coated chicken on a plate.

3. Cook the chicken

  • Heat oil in a pan over medium heat.

  • Cook each chicken piece for 3–4 minutes on each side, until golden.

  • Transfer to the baking tray.

4. Add the toppings

  • Spoon 2–3 tablespoons of marinara over each chicken piece.

  • Sprinkle ¼ cup mozzarella on top of each one.

5. Bake it

  • Bake in the oven for 10–12 minutes, or until cheese is melted and bubbly.

6. Serve and enjoy!

  • Serve with pasta, rice, or steamed veggies—whatever feels easiest and best.
