Ingredients:
For the Chicken:
2 large boneless chicken breasts (or thighs)
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon oregano
½ teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon pepper (optional)
Juice of ½ lemon (or 1 tablespoon bottled)
For the Tzatziki Sauce:
1 cup plain Greek yogurt
½ cucumber, grated or finely chopped
1 clove garlic, minced (or ¼ tsp garlic powder)
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1 tablespoon fresh or dried dill
Salt to taste
For Assembly:
4 pita breads or wraps
Optional: chopped lettuce, tomato, cucumber, onion
1. Marinate the Chicken (5 minutes)
In a bowl, mix olive oil, garlic powder, oregano, salt, pepper, and lemon juice.
Add the chicken and coat well. Let sit while you prep sauce.
Option: Skip marinating if in a hurry—just rub the spices directly before cooking.
2. Make the Tzatziki Sauce
In a small bowl, mix:
Yogurt
Grated cucumber
Garlic
Olive oil
Lemon juice
Dill
Salt
Stir well. Chill in the fridge if possible (makes it taste better).
3. Cook the Chicken (10–15 minutes)
Heat a pan with a little oil over medium heat.
Cook chicken 5–7 minutes on each side until done (not pink inside).
Let cool for a minute, then slice thin.
Option: Bake chicken at 400°F for 20 minutes.
4. Warm the Pitas
Warm pita in the microwave (15 seconds) or in a dry pan (30 seconds per side).
5. Assemble Your Pitas
Add sliced chicken
Spoon on tzatziki
Add lettuce, tomato, cucumber, or anything else you like
